NOONERS

1) Its that time of the year, yes passing the budget time. Considering last year it took almost two months to pass it and this year we are $18 Billion short, its going to be a nice hot summer in Sacramento. Good thing those guys have air conditioning.

2)Last week San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom announced he is looking into running for governor in 2010. Remember, this is the guy who slept with his campaign manager's wife. Well, now we can only wait for Los Angeles Mayor Antoinio Villaraigosa to throw his hat into the ring. Speaking with unnamed sources, the mayor thinks it is still too early to make it know that he is running.

Don't Talk On Your Phone, But Text All You Want

If you are from the state of California, you know that on July 1st a new law went into effect that prohibits drivers from holding a phone up to their ear. It is a well concieved law, but there are some problems with it already. Texting is allowed through some loophole and so is driving with the speaker on. If one is caught driving while talking on the phone, they are fined, with each penantly going up.

It seems like a pretty good law so far. The main problem is that texting is still allowed. I've been in a car where the driver was using both hands to text and drove with their knee. Now that is quite dangerous so I would forsee this law being modified in the coming years, if not sooner.

Once again, California continues to evolve into the nanny state. With the law changing though, one has to consider if it is actually the act of holding the phone up to your ear that causes the accident or holding the conversation. Only time will tell as the law has just kicked in and real results will be determined down the road.

Hope & Change Explained

You live in an evil country. It is broken. Your soul is broken. It does not work.

Only one person can fix this and it is with Hope and Change. People tried turning to religion & God because of this poor quality of life and evidentially this is something even Christianity can’t handle. With racism at every corner, greedy investors trying to keep their companies profitable and your average American feeling ashamed for driving his SUV to work each day… It is no wonder why people need Hope and Change more than ever.

Global Warming !!! A subject so fantastically, catastrophic I am surprised people have the motivation to get through a single hour of the workday let alone even contemplate tomorrow. Hope and Change backed by a candidate with his own presidential seal, we just might be able to put a stop to the millions of lives lost each year by this widespread disaster.

Global Healthcare !!! That’s right, I said global. Forget this sovereign country thing, we are all in this together and America needs to catch up and do its fair share. That is why me and millions of legally employed citizens are glad to personally give at least an additional 10% of our paycheck each week to make this happen. Besides, after the troops are pulled from Iraq, there will be much-needed healthcare for those hundreds of innocent Iraqi citizens that remain alive. Don’t worry survivors, Hope and Change is coming.

With a broken nation, the fear of heat or cold and the distressing healthcare epidemic in this country… we only have one choice. Hope and Change.

You may be asking, “How are you... But where’s the money to pay… Exactly what do you mean by… ?” Or whatever your question maybe, here is your answer with all of the details explained, precise and to the point: Hope & Change.

Vote for Obama and his wife this November and you too can start the healing process of our desolated country.

God Bless America

As the Fourth of July approaches, I would like to comment on my love for this country. Sometimes it seems like there are not many out there who accept this country for everything it is. People have flocked here for the last several hundred years because of the opportunities it presents. Everyone comes here looking for the American Dream. Many might still wonder if this dream exists and I will say it does. More than in just our hearts and mind. Everyday we as Americans work together to keep this wonderful country going.

Thank you to all Americans who are proud of their country and especially to all the men and woman serving in the military.

God Bless America this Fourth of July.

California Businesses Upset Mandatory Sick Paid Leave Bill

In an interview with a local business owner, it became evident that many businesses are not happy with AB2716. The bill was introduced by Fiona Ma who represents the 12th Assembly District. Speaking with the owner, who asked to remain nameless, he spoke of how the bill "is very anti-busness" and a "threat to many companies during this economic crisis." A tirade and a half later the interview ended with a call to action "to get the donkeys out of Sacramento."

Trying to be keep the owner's head around the whole issue, I asked him to picture himself on the other side of the ordeal. Being the employee who might need to take a day off for being sick, but scared too because they might lost their job. Still, he kept that it would harm businesses and was a bad call.

Currently the bill has passed the Assembly and is in a Senate Committee.

****Frank Russo over at the California Progress Report made a good point. He stated that 136 other nations around the world offer similar policies.

Presidential Politics

Here's an idea.

Instead of McCain and Obama choosing a running mate, they run heads up and the loser is declared vice president of the United States of America. This would be the only true way to bring and end to the hyper partisanship that exists in California and the rest of the states.
